Biography
I am a fisheries scientist currently working for the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in Auckland. My focus is on marine recreational fisheries, including inshore fin-fish and lobster. Before moving to New Zealand in 2018, I worked in a research role on marine recreational fisheries and marine protected areas in South Africa from 2006. I have published quantitative fisheries research in international peer-reviewed journals and was awarded a PhD in fisheries science from Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa in 2017. I have also lectured part-time at postgraduate level on fishery stock assessment and R programming.
