The Check Clean Dry Campaign aims to stop the spread of freshwater pests by encouraging people going through more than one waterway to check, clean and dry their gear in between.
The recommended Check Clean Dry actions are largely based on a series of research projects undertaken by NIWA Freshwater researchers since 2005.
In recent years three additional sets of tests have provided the Campaign Partners with an update on the effectiveness of detergents more commonly used today, including products with environmental claims, and other cleaning methods such as freezing.
The Check Clean Dry Campaign Partners are: all Regional Councils, Biosecurity New Zealand (a business unit of the Ministry for Primary Industries), Department of Conservation, Fish & Game New Zealand, Genesis Energy, Land Information New Zealand, Meridian Energy, NIWA, Te Arawa Lakes Trust, Tūwharetoa Trust Board.
